We told him no, but what I really wanted to say was:
"If you can actually convince your wife to engage in sexual intercourse with your catheter still in, then be my guest, and let me know how it went..."

When I took a graduate course in sex therapy, we saw a vdeo demonstrating how to fold the catheter against the penis to have relations.
1 sob of a pt that is...bet he tried it anyway, and whether he was successful or not, he would say he was, just to tell a story how his doctor was "wrong"

I actually had a patient that had sex with a catheter in. I was a first year urology resident on the VA hospital rotation. The charge nurse paged me in the middle of the night and was quite disturbed when she found a patient that had undergone a TURP earlier that day humping another male veteran.
I had sex with a 8" piece of 1/2" copper pipe in my urethra!...... actually a number of times and it feels awesome!
You know, I had a smart-ass reply all ready to go, until I read Anonymous 1:49's comment above. For a brief moment, I was so proud of my steely wit, but it all seems so flaccid and limp now by comparison.

Maybe he was thinking of taking the catheter out, having sex, and putting it back in. I have a stricture of the urethra and have to pass a catheter to my bladder every month. It takes about a minute to do it. It burns a bit afterwards though, and sex would probably be unpleasant for a short time (not that I would pass it up though - priorities, you know).
I had a young marine with a very accomodating girlfriend who engaged in intercourse on the surgical ward after an open urethroplasty. He bent the catheter back and placed a condom over the entire apparatus. I believe he escaped non-judicial punishment because the chief resident was so impressed with his fortitude. Neurorehab situations actually encourage the catheter folded back on the penile shaft and taped there to facilitate penetration. Not pleasant, perhaps, but recommended in rehab manuals.
I have a Foley Catheter in all of the time and have sex on a regular basis. Condoms work well to hold it out of the way, but I have done it many times without the condom.

I am a female with a neurogenic bladder and must se a indwelling foley catheter. It is easy to insert once yo get a rotine down.
