Never Again...

That was my vow on friday night as I was cradling the porcelain goddess into the wee hours of the morning. You see, we had our annual Christmas party/dinner, and I must have overindulged in the alcoholic beverage department. Though truth be told, I am a real lightweight since I only had two martinis.

Yes, just two martinis to send me over the edge into the realm of intractable nausea and vomiting. What I would have given for a little Zofran... I had the displeasure of experiencing my scallops and salmon twice...

Even today my stomach is feeling a little queasy and I've been nursing a headache over the whole weekend. I guess the moral of the story is that I shouldn't really be drinking at all, or I just drink much more often to build up my tolerance.

So I say: "Never again!!!!" ... until the next time...

Are you completely sure it was the drinks, though? Plenty of viruses go around this time of year, and there are plenty of things you could eat at a party (think dips, soft cheeses, other fancy-pants items - heck, you don't suspect the SCALLOPS?? and/or other seafood) that could turn your stomach into a churning sea of putrid projectile-ejection chum.

Ok, this space intentionally left blank - your comment is causing MY stomach to churn - what a visual! Good point tho - :)

Glad you are feeling somewhat better Dr Keagirl. I rarely drink alchohol and so even one drink goes right to my head and I get that spacey feeling. :)

Two vodka drinks will do the same to me - minus the hangover. The last time I had had squid-ink risotto for dinner; not pretty. I have learned the hard way to indulge in only one vodka cocktail per night. Tequila, on the other hand, seems to go through my system very quickly. I can drink margaritas all night and not get sick or have a hangover the next day. Feel better.

One suspects you might, perhaps, have a deficiency / mosaic for acetaldehyde dehydrogenase..?

you know what they say--one martini is not enough and two is too many!

I'm feeling infinitely better now. Thanks everyone! I'm very sure it was the alcohol and not the scallops since I have a tendency for emesis anytime I have more than one drink. Sad... But thankful I didn't have squid ink... yikes... Being a dumb human being who never learns her lesson, I'll probably do this again next year, or sooner.

Dr Dork, I've long suspected the missing enzyme, making me a very cheap date... :)
